Ken

The Man-in-Charge - 1988-2023

Whose legacy will forever live on in Ken's Custom Iron.

Ken’s Custom Iron was Ken’s dream after his time working at the railroad. He was fascinated by everything he learned in his first few years working at Burlington Northern and knew there was so much more he wanted to learn. Since then, his blacksmith shop became where he spent much of his time, including his free time. His thoughtful creativity and passion for blacksmithing will forever be missed.

MaryLou
The Boss Lady - Since 1988

We would make a list of everything MaryLou does around Ken’s Custom Iron, but that list is extremely long and ever-changing. Let’s just say she does it all: from being Ken’s striker at the anvil, to the official Power Hammer painter, to the “shipping department” of our online orders, to taking care of the bookwork, and much, MUCH more. She certainly isn’t afraid of a little hard work and enjoys working side-by-side with Ken every day. In what little free time she has, MaryLou likes to work in her garden, ride her horses, and make delicious desserts.

Justin

The Do-It-All Guy - Since 2017

Five years of Active Duty service with the Air Force sparked Justin's interest in working with metal. Mixed with his love for trucks, this interest has been taken to a whole new level. He would like to eventually offer a line of truck products to include bumpers, light bar brackets, steps, and more. Working previously as a laser-table operator, he has tried to learn more about blacksmithing from Ken in the time that we had with him. When he's not kept busy with fixing things at his and Samantha's ranch, Justin loves to work on his truck and spend time outdoors.

Brandon

The Rookie Do-It-All-Guy - Since 2022

An avid fisherman, Brandon comes to the KCI team with a passion for hard work, a git-er-done attitude, and always a smile on his face. He has years of experience in metal fabrication and welding. In his free time, when he's not on the lake, Brandon can be found on the golf course or working on his truck.

Samantha

The Tech Girl - Since 2016

Daughter of Ken and MaryLou, Samantha joined Ken’s Custom Iron after she finished her time in the military. She now is a full time photographer over at Rule Creative Co, but pops into KCI when needed to help with marketing, graphic design, videography/photography, etc., though she’s not opposed to getting her hands dirty in the shop when she’s needed. In her free time, she enjoys raising her and Justin's two children, gardening, photography (of course), hiking, and cooking.
