KZ100 Power Hammer

The KZ100 Power Hammer operates just like a steam hammer. We use a mechanical linkage and a directional valve along with compressed air to operate and control the hammer. There are no solenoid valves or limit switches.

Details : We use an American made custom built 12" stroke cylinder with a 2-1/2" bore with a 1-3/4" rod for maximum durability. This cylinder has a built -in air cushion. The KZ100 runs efficiently on 80 to 95 lbs of air pressure. We run our hammer with a 5 hp 2 stage 80-gallon compressor at 17 CFM. Our 3" x 6" dies offer the largest working area for a hammer of this size.

Specs :

Weight : The anvil and base have a combined weight of 1,400 lbs. The overall weight is approx 2,500 lbs. Size : The overall height is 73" and the base measures 24" x 36". The throat depth is 9".

Dies : The KZ100 comes standard with 3" x 6" bolt-on flat dies with the option to upgrade to combination dies.

Just shipped out this custom MZ75 Power Hammer dubbed the "MZ75+". The proud new owner of this hammer regularly works with texturing sheet copper (bowls, etc.) which requires a hammer design with a deeper throat. While he needed something a little different, Brandon loved his original MZ75 and reached out about making something custom to better suit projects like these. Looking forward to seeing what he creates! (See last photo for an example of his work!)

These six gentlemen finished up the last day of our Knife Making Intensive Course this weekend. The class was spread over two weekend sessions. In the first session, students mainly worked on stock removal, and this past weekend, they worked on making a forged blade. They used forging skills, grinding, and polishing to work on everything from the blade to the mosaic pins, the handle, the guard, and more. . These men completed our Hand Hammer Class (using a Power Hammer) this Saturday and did an excellent job. Everyone was able to walk away from class with their own hand hammer after forging it with the MZ75 Power Hammer then completing the grinding, hardening, tempering, and attaching the handle. We hope to offer this class again next year.
